Adjacent to Christchurch’s Cranmer Square, DKO was commissioned to conceive of a new campus for Majestic Church. Prior to the Christchurch earthquakes, the church occupied the former Majestic theatre. The new church master plan follows the themes of contemporary religious architecture, with a key focus on community youth facilities, drama, contemporary dance and creating informal spaces for the congregation to connect. In the aftermath of the earthquakes projects such as Majestic Church perform a key social function, as regenerative Architecture, helping to get Christchurch back on its feet again.
