For nearly two decades, KU DE TA has enchanted the world with its exquisite cuisine, charm, and legendary parties, establishing itself as one of the original Balinese beach clubs. Nestled on the sandy shores of Seminyak, this idyllic beachfront space is designed for sun-soaked days and unforgettable island nights.
Recently, the upstairs restaurant underwent a stunning redesign by DKO, setting the stage for a new dining experience —SaltLick. DKO’s vision was to create a dining destination that blends local charm with international appeal. A design that engages all the senses. Where touch, smell, sight, and taste are heightened to create a memorable dining experience

A key focal point of the restaurant is the open kitchen design. This allows diners to witness culinary artistry in action, emphasising transparency and engagement. Meat-filled cabinets (the restaurant is known for its quality steak) and wine fridges on display further enhance this connection to food.

“KU DE TA's legacy as Bali’s first beach club has been truly inspiring. It has been an honour to contribute to this heritage by creating a destination restaurant. We're thrilled to create a unique dining experience that blends local charm with international sophistication, engaging all the senses to offer something truly special.”

SaltLick is designed to accommodate up to 100 guests across three distinct zones, each perfectly positioned to capture the stunning sunsets.

The aromas of wood fire mingling with the salty sea breeze create a distinctive sensory experience. Natural textures and elegant lighting are meticulously chosen, transforming the dining space into a harmonious blend of nature and sophistication.

Infusing culture authentically was paramount. DKO embraced this challenge by selecting locally sourced materials, such as charred teak timber, reclaimed Ulin timber and gorgeous forest brown marble, ensuring each detail resonates with Bali’s rich heritage. Our use of local forest brown marble with natural veining adds a touch of classic elegance, stripping back to timeless design principles rather than following fleeting trends. This commitment to authenticity, combined with modern design elements, results in a space that feels both familiar and extraordinary.

This project was a collaborative effort, with the owner, chef, architect, and builder working closely together. Each detail was carefully planned and executed to ensure a cohesive and immersive dining experience. The result is a destination restaurant where rugged meets refined, and every aspect—from the meat, wine, and kitchen on show to the intricate details of the décor—contributes to the art of dining.
