DKO Architecture is offering two student positions as we expand our architecture practice in Sydney.  With a strong pipeline of work we are seeking versatile architectural students with a strong interest in working with us to get experience across a variety of project typologies including; high rise residential, multi-residential, hotel, commercial towers, retirement living and aged care facilities are invited to submit applications.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Located in our Sydney studio with a team of 40 professionals. DKO is offering two part-time student roles with a focus on enhancing a student’s skill-set in a creative studio environment providing an opportunity to develop and build on your already developing architectural skills and experiences.

Suitable candidates must be a competent, organised and committed to being “hands-on” in the production of deliverables to satisfy the requirements of our clients, their stakeholders, planning authorities, the consultant team and the contractor.

As a design focused studio, you will be working with our skilled team members on a day to day basis using a combination of design, documenting and 3D printing skills whilst being a part of the conceptualisation and consultation processes to help bring our clients ideas to life.

This position would suit a design driven architectural student looking for part time work in the architectural industry.

Located in our new Perth studio with a growing team working across exciting master planning, residential and mixed use projects, the specific roles and activities are (but not limited to) the following:

  • To carry out sketch design work;
  • To carry out work associated with preparing Architectural Planning application submissions;
  • To undertake Urban Design and Masterplanning tasks
  • To liaise with and co-ordinate the various requirements and activities of Clients, Consultants and local Councils;
  • To carry out Site Analysis and Site Context Analysis;
  • To relate designs to relevant codes and local council requirements.

Whilst you will have good code and compliance knowledge to contribute to the design and assisting with DA, tender and construction documentation.

DKO is a design focused studio. You will be working alongside our skilled team members as well as closely with the Associates and Directors to realise and deliver the quality projects. Suitable candidates will have proven experience demonstrating your capability.

Working across exciting master planning, residential and mixed-use projects, the specific roles and activities are (but not limited to) the following:

  • CAD operator / modeller;
  • To carry out sketch design work;
  • To carry out work associated with preparing Architectural Development Application submissions;
  • To undertake Urban Design and Masterplanning tasks
  • To liaise with and co-ordinate the various requirements and activities of Clients, Consultants and local Councils;
  • To carry out Site Analysis and Site Context Analysis;

ABOUT THE ROLE

Located in our Redfern Studio on the fringe of the city, we are seeking an experienced Senior Project Architect to lead a number of projects in the Accommodation and Multi–Residential space who has a strong design and technical focus to join our growing team. The role requires a leader who will be responsible for all significant project activities and who has the skills to communicate work details in every step of construction and detailed documentation phases. You will work closely with contractors on site, ensuring that works are carried out to specific standards and, above all, ensuring that the building is sustainable, functional and aesthetically pleasing. DKO is a design focused studio. You will be working alongside our skilled team members as well as with the Associates and Directors to realise and deliver quality projects. Suitable candidates will have proven experience demonstrating your capability.

The role will be varied and will involve specific roles and activities (but not limited to) as follows:

  • Leading complex projects with ultimate responsibility for program and budget management, effective time and resources management and promoting best practice and knowledge within the studio
  • Preparing and presenting feasibility reports and design proposals to the client
  • Coordinating contract documents, design, and consultant teams, and follow projects through to completion (contract administration)
  • Managing the timely production of detailed workings, drawings and specifications
  • Preparing Development Applications, Tender Submissions, Construction Drawings and Presentations
  • Negotiating with contractors, consultants and other professionals throughout all stages of the project
  • Resolving complex technical and design issues
  • Regular site visits to check on progress, ensuring that the project is running on time and to budget
  • An ability to manage a team and inspire design and excellence across all projects
  • Have a keen interest in leading and mentoring our emerging graduates in design and technical matters
