The Main Beach residential tower sits within the Light Rail urban renewal area, rising 63 metres above ground. The project will comprise of 13 three-bedroom apartments and two split-level four-bedroom apartments atop a landscaped negative podium, housing an open green base and a ground-floor café.

Perched above the café is the communal open space for residents, composed of a series of landscaped rooms radiating from a central pool, with use of barbecue facilities, sun lounges, kids play and outdoor work spaces. Most of the units will enjoy uninterrupted views of Main Beach and the adjacent parkland, and will be within walking distance of the light rail train station and Marina Mirage.

The tower is defined by a series of carefully detailed, scalloped slabs; the shapes draw from the boats and yachts which sit on the nearby Broadwater – elegant, nautical and simple forms. The finish on the concrete slabs reflects the colour and texture of the sand on its edges, while the soffits reflect the warm pink tones of the local Macaranga plant, common on the Spit.

Gifted with stunning views of the ocean and sand dunes, the design approach takes inspiration from the surrounding natural landscape. Tactile materiality encapsulates warmth and comfort, creating a rich sensory experience for the occupants. It is a reflection of the intricate layers of pattern and texture created in the sand and the dune vegetation. Through considered detailing and thoughtful use of materials, DKO has created apartments that sit quietly within the unique environment presenting as an exemplar of modern luxury.

There is only one apartment per level, this enables the interiors to respond to the external environment and light from sunrise through to sunset. Use of natural stone with beautiful variations of pink veining and streaking has been paired with timber joinery and flooring to create a warmth that exudes luxury befitting of Main Beach’s stunning location. Materials were selected for their tactile quality, durability and organic aesthetic with a colour palette that offers a refined and polished interpretation of luxury.  It is a reflection of the intricate layers of pattern and texture created in the sand and the dune vegetation. All elements work in harmony.
