Inspired by historic examples throughout Camberwell, Cookson’s materiality and window placement mimic the rhythm of the adjacent buildings to perfectly and sympathetically sit within the streetscape. The facade’s sophisticated knitting of solids and voids creates an inviting architectural form. Natural brick provides an aesthetic that invokes the architectural and historical layers of Camberwell, while at the same time attuning to contemporary elements in the environment. The building’s composition and materiality work together to deliver an enduring presence which is honest, welcoming and contextually appropriate.

With signature arches providing a key design detail connecting a richly textured façade to the interior design, the building embraces elements from the local landscape, injecting distinctive echoes of Camberwell’s leafy amenity throughout internal and private spaces.

A stylish and welcoming lobby sees the extension of the arches from exterior to interior. With interiors by Mim Design, the entry foyer offers a tranquil space to greet visitors and guests.

In keeping with the street level activity that defines Camberwell’s retail strips, Cookson includes a stylish bistro and wine bar adjacent to the lobby. With additional alfresco seating and views across Camberwell Railway Station, it offers easy convenience for a morning coffee before work, or the opportunity to relax with a quiet drink at the end of the day.
