The Urban Developer
Goodman is venturing into the build-to-rent market with an ambitious project in western Sydney, transforming its existing Waterloo Business Park in Macquarie Park into a modern residential complex featuring six apartment blocks.
We acknowledge the Wallumattagal people of the Dharug Nation, the traditional custodians of the land upon which Macquarie Park stands. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture.
The proposed development encompasses a 1.6-hectare site on Waterloo Road, Macquarie Park, and is a state-significant development. A central design feature is a “green spine,” facilitating pedestrian connections throughout the development. The landscape architect is a frequent DKO collaborator, OCULUS, who are also working closely with the Connecting to Country consultant Bernadette Hardy.
As part of the project, a new road connecting Lane Cove and Dirrabari roads to the north of the site. This road enhancement aims to improve accessibility and connectivity in the area. A strategic master plan for the Waterloo Road corridor was initiated by Ryde City Council, recognising the transformation of the region from a sprawling business park to a burgeoning central business district. With job growth projected to reach 79,000 by 2036 and student enrolment expected to increase to 55,000 by 2030, Macquarie Park is a pivotal hub for employment and education.
