These vertical townhouses explore high density typologies in a tight urban context.

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land upon which our Bedford Street project stands. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture.

The projects seeks to offer alternative forms of living in precincts that are traditionally dominated by either small apartment types or single, detached terrace housing. It creates a gritty and robust response in an area of high social character.

The design response is a Dutch style design, that presents a gritty and robust response to an area of high social character, through an abstraction and analysis of the prevailing street character and neighbourhood.

The built form response is derived from an abstraction and analysis of the prevailing street character and neighbourhood. The gable roof form and rhythm of window patterning are referenced and used architectonically. The corten facade instantly applies an aged character to the street facade assimilating the development in to the neighbourhood.

This project offers alternative, non-traditional living typologies and encourages discourse on modern architectural form and the insertion into traditional built fabric and communities.

Bedford Street offers an alternative housing typology for the market with the community embracing the development with an immediate uptake.

Solar Shading, Solar orientation, cross ventilation, access to public transport and density all drive a social and sustainable benefit all in a passive design response. The flexibility of four different plan types and flexibility to user requests allowed for a more customised and individual offering to all our clients.
