    The Local Project

Kingloch Parade reimagines suburban density through a landscape-led, community-focused approach.

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri and Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Kingloch Parade stands. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture.

Delivered on a former school site in Wantirna, the project transforms an underutilised parcel into a connected residential neighbourhood defined by walkability, environmental performance and a strong sense of place.

At the core of the scheme is a pedestrian-first masterplan that replaces conventional car-dominated planning with a network of landscaped pathways and communal green spaces. The architectural response draws on mid-century precedents, expressed through articulated roof forms, durable materiality and a restrained palette of cladding and brickwork.

The “blue and green spine” runs through the centre of the development, acting as an elevated pathway that traverses the site’s natural floodplain. Conceived as both infrastructure and amenity, this landscaped corridor integrates water-sensitive urban design with a generous, planted public realm.

A singular dwelling within the development is deliberately expressed as a point of distinction, with its sculptural, curved form and dark, timber-clad facade setting it apart from the broader architectural language. Positioned as a marker within the masterplan, this home introduces a moment of contrast and identity, anchoring the streetscape while reinforcing the project’s design ambition.

“We really took inspiration from the traditional ‘60s architecture of brick and pitched roofs and took cues from the neighbouring streets to blend them together for something that fits comfortably within the site and within the street.”
