Gelex – a publicly-listed company with eight subsidiaries across utilities, logistics, infrastructure and real estate – commissioned DKO to create a new 21st century fitout for their global headquarters.
DKO’s design proposition was to showcase the company as a leading national corporation within a timeless workspace of luxurious materials and refinement. Every detail was considered from the quality of finishes and experience, to the quality of the coffee beans and refreshments available to visiting guests. With premium views from 24 storeys up, considered seating planning allows each team member equal access to natural light and views.
Welcome spaces and meeting facilities were planned centrally with team workspace and offices to the periphery, bringing natural light and views deep into the office. On entering, visitors are welcomed by an impressive marble reception desk in stormy tones with gently curving wall of polished plaster forming a calming backdrop and brand position. Nearby, a cozy waiting zone is outlined by a warm textured custom rug and light contemporary furniture. Neighbouring the reception, the cafe pantry creates an active space visible to visitors that doubles as catering point for functions and additional meeting space for casual conversations.
Dynamic open plan work spaces sit adjacent full-height glazing to the building perimeter, linked to a shared landscaped work pod that encourages collaboration in a technology rich informal space. Executive work pods are framed in smart glass creating privacy when required but otherwise strengthening links across the team.
