Project Description +
x

AJAR and DKO required a mere 8,500 laser cut cardboard butterflies to interpret the theme of “Evolution” as part of Melbourne Indesign 2016’s The Project.

AJAR’s showroom housed the impressive installation that comments on the notion of evolution in the context of contemporary design.

Across three days, eight people hand fixed the butterflies to the walls and ceiling in flowing kaleidoscopes of signature red. They draw the eye in and though the showroom, sweeping around the stunning collection of furniture within. The delicate structure of each butterfly allowed their wings to lightly flutter as people moved through the space.

AJAR teamed with DKO having seen first-hand their design work with the Bedford St multi residential project adjacent to their showroom. The project has helped evolve the street scape into the sophisticated and vibrant inner urban profile it enjoys now.

Evolution is one of the driving forces of DKO’s design philosophy – through a series of modifications, adaptations and development, we advance through trial and error towards the finished result.
